Ikigai Book Review | The Japanese Secret to a Long and Happy life ||

How often we get bored doing everyday chores? How  often we lack motivation for mundane task? My answer would be very often. If you are alike me, then this post is for you.

Hello my name is Dhwani and welcome or welcome back to "The Libra Style " In case you are new here, it is a blog wherein I post fashion beauty and lifestyle related content. Let's begin with the post.

This month I picked up a book IKiGAI. This book is, was and still hyped. I was thrilled to read this book.

This book revolves around the people of Okinawa Island in Japan. Okinawa is the island where there are 24.55 people over the age of 100 for every 100,000 inhabitants. To know the secret of their extraordinary longevity author of this book travelled to Okinawa. There they had the chance to interview more than 100 villagers about their philosophy for a long and happy life.

This book is divided into 9 chapters and every chapter has something interesting to grasp your attention.
Let's talk about Okinawan's. Okinawan's live by the principle of "Ichariba Chode",  which means treat everyone like a brother,  even if you've never met them before. They also practice "yuimaaru" from an early age which means teamwork and so are used to helping one another.

Not only they live much longer than the rest of the world's population, they also suffer from fewer chronic illness such as cancer and heart disease, inflammatory disorders are also less common. They believe in moving body everyday, taking walks and working in their vegetable garden rather than doing arduous exercise. They believe focussing on one work at a time rather than multi-tasking. There are also  moderate exercise's shown in the book along with the pictures. The Okinawan diet is rich in Tofu, sweet potatoes, fish (three times a week) and vegetables (roughly 11 ounces per day). One whole chapter is dedicated to nutrition where you will find healthy and  antioxidant-rich foods.

Nurturing friendships, eating light, getting enough rest and doing moderate exercise are all part of good health. Apart from that celebrating Birthdays, never getting retire from work and cherishing each new day is their "IKIGAI".

This is a small, cute and easy read book yet left you with deep thoughts. Grab this book if you still haven't and if you have already done reading then I would love to know your thoughts. You can also ping me on any of my social media handles as well. This book is worth the hype.

Will be back soon with another blog post, till then spread love everywhere you go!

#Happy Blogging !
